Our family never rests on tradition alone . Each generation charts its own course.
FORWARD ALWAYS
Martin Foradori Hofstätter ushers in a modern era, marked by the construction of the “Wine Tower” in 1997. In contrast to the historic 1492 church tower, this bold architectural statement in the wine village of Tramin seamlessly blends tradition with the courage to embrace constant change.
J. Hofstätter consistently forges new paths, guiding us to the Mosel region in Germany and the “Piccole Dolomiti” in southern Trentino. With the “Steinbock Riesling Zero” and “Steinbock Zero Sparkling,” the winery breaks new ground, setting innovative standards in the premium segment of non-alcoholic wines and sparkling wines.
Stagnation is not an option. We age white wines in traditional oak barrels and utilize energy-efficient maceration in modern concrete tanks. Practices such as cover cropping in the vineyards, gentle pruning, composting, organic fertilization, and hedge maintenance are small yet vital steps on our journey. Our unwavering goal is to strive for perfection in every aspect.
INNOVATIONS IN THE CELLAR
Nestled in the heart of the wine village of Tramin, J. Hofstätter wines continue to mature in the very place where it all begins over a century ago. We believe this rich heritage profoundly influences their distinctive character. A historic cellar and state-of-the-art technology: featuring a precise optical sorting system that meticulously inspects each grape represents a remarkable milestone for Alto Adige.
Moreover, our passion for innovation inspires us to age our wines on fine lees in stainless steel tanks and to explore the use of innovative concrete barrels and terracotta vessels.
ROOTS IN THE VINEYARD. AND IN TOGETHERNESS.
J. Hofstätter Winery: family members, staff, and our sites – that’s who we are.
We carefully tend to what needs nurturing – our vineyards and beyond. Wine is not crafted in solitude – it is also through the ideas and efforts of our team that we continually grow and evolve.
The term “sustainability” is omnipresent today. For us, it’s the many small steps that count. Reducing the weight of bottles. Biodegradable packaging. Heat recovery and electricity from our own photovoltaic system. We are constantly setting ourselves new goals.
