Our vineyards on both sides of the Adige Valley in southern Alto Adige offer perfect conditions for Pinot Noir, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Blanc, Lagrein, and Sauvignon Blanc.
Each grape variety is grown precisely where it thrives best. Alto Adige’s strength is its diverse single vineyards, and ours is understanding and maximizing that richness.

Vigna Herbsthöfl
The newest addition to our Vigna wines from Mazon, vinified separately for the first time in 2022. This is the highest and coolest parcel of the Barthenau Estate, situated at 430 to 460 meters in the northernmost part of the plateau.

Mazon, a high plateau on the cooler eastern side of the southern Adige Valley, is Italy’s most prestigious site for Pinot Noir. In 1987, the Vigna S. Urbano becomes Alto Adige’s first officially designated single-vineyard wine (Vigna).
